Lazy Morning Breakfast Treat Donuts
Great for a special occasion, a lazy Saturday morning breakfast treat or even a fun snack for the kiddos!

- 1 cup Whole wheat flour
- ½ cup All-purpose white flour
- ½ cup Coconut or date sugar
- 1 Tbsp Ground flax seeds
- 1½ tsp Baking powder
- ½ tsp Sea salt
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- ¼ tsp Nutmeg (optional)
- ⅓ cup Sunflower oil
- 1 cup Almond milk
Chocolate Glaze
- 1 cup Vegan dark chocolate chips
- 1-2 tsp Coconut oil
Preheat donut maker
Combine dry ingredients, stir well to combine
Make a well in center of dry ingredients. Pour oil and almond milk into center. Mix well.
Spoon batter into donut maker until batter is just even with the top of the donut mold.
Close lid and bake until done.
Remove donuts and allow to cool a bit before drizzling with chocolate glaze.
Tips
- This is the donut baker I have and use. I actually have 2 of them so I can make a lot when we have guests or teaching classes. 😊 You could also bake them in a donut pan like this as well, or even use a muffin pan and pour just a small amount of batter in the bottom. They will be round but will not have a hole in the middle – but they will still be tasty!
- You might need to stir in a bit more almond milk to get the batter the right consistency… not too thick.
- I have found that with my donut baker, they require a bit longer than when the built-in indicator thinks they are done, so experiment with your donut baker to get the perfect timing.
- Alternative method to drizzle chocolate glaze over the donuts is to put the glaze in a Ziploc bag and snip a small corner off the bottom and use like a small pastry bag.
- They are also great without the chocolate glaze. Or another option is to put some coconut sugar in a coffee grinder and make your own powered sugar to sprinkle on top.
